Your effective rate is a starting point.

A single percentage is useful. The explanation matters more.

Do the basic division.

Effective rate is total processing fees divided by card sales for the period. In an illustrative month with $100,000 sales and $2,850 fees, that rate is 2.85%.

Ask what makes up the number.

Markup and other fee findings give the rate context. Estimated savings are estimates based on assumptions, not an offer or a promise.

Do not confuse costs with deposits.

A fee report explains the statement. It does not establish that every expected dollar reached the bank. Deposit matching needs the bank and settlement evidence too.

Product information is based on the supplied brief. Example figures are illustrative. This article is not accounting, tax or legal advice.
