Bring in the record you already have.
A bank or card statement has a beginning, an end and the activity between them. DoLedger starts with those PDF records: it reads the lines, books them and checks the result against the statement’s own totals.
You do not need to provide a bank login for this statement-based starting point. The PDF is the source record. Keeping the original statement available gives you and your bookkeeper something concrete to review together.
Make missing records visible.
The difficult part is often not the statement you have—it is the one you do not. One account may be complete while another is missing a month. A card account may have charges but no statement uploaded yet.
Bank & imports brings the ways records arrive into one place, showing what is missing for each account. “What we need” gathers missing statements, reports and questions, with a private upload link for the person providing them.
Use the check as a starting point for review.
A statement-total check helps establish whether the imported activity agrees with the source totals. It does not replace every question about categorization, timing or the purpose of a transaction.
Start with a complete set of source records, then work into the details. Statement imports are one way to bring records in. The bigger aim is a clearer view of your business and simpler books.
